In Sanskrit, the word Mukteshwar means "God of Relief" or "Lord of Salvation". The name comes from two Sanskrit words: "Mukti" which means "salvation" and "Ishwar" which is another term for "God". According to a Hindu legend, Lord Shiva fought a demon at Mukteshwar and granted him immortality, or "mukti". The place became known as Mukteshwar, which means "Mukti+Ishwar". To honor Lord Shiva and his family, we have a Temple on-site.
